Install it and the rules are already on.

No account, no setup, no settings to get wrong. Visitemap starts counting the moment it is installed, and the first thing it asks of you is nothing at all.

What you actually live with.

Two small screens and one large one. The popup is where you check the clock, settings is where you read the rules you are on, and the third you will meet whether you want to or not.

The toolbar popup. Time left, where today went, and the last 7 days. The counter holds while you are away and never counts down.
Settings states the rules rather than hiding them, along with every platform it watches and every field it records.

When your limit is up, this covers the tab. Video pauses, audio stops, and every social platform locks at the same moment, so moving to the next one does not work either.

How the clock works.

  • It counts attention, not tabs.

Only while a social tab is focused and you are at the keyboard. A video left playing behind your work does not count, and neither does a tab you forgot about.

  • One clock for all of them.

Every platform shares a single counter, so moving between them adds up instead of starting over.

  • It never runs backwards.

The counter holds while you are away. 20 minutes this morning and 20 after lunch is 40 minutes. Only the break clears it, or midnight.

  • It warns you twice.

At 5 minutes and again at 1, then the screen fades over 5 seconds rather than slamming shut.

  • You set the limit.

40 minutes to start with. On Pro you choose anywhere between 20 and 120, and make the break longer. An hour is the shortest a break can ever be, on any plan.

What it can see.

  • Which platform, and for how long.

The platform name, the date, the hour and the number of seconds. That is the whole record.

  • No URLs. Not even the platform's own.

Not page contents, video titles, posts, messages or searches. There is no code in it that could read them.

  • Nothing outside the list.

It asks Chrome for access to 25 named domains and nothing else, so every other site you visit is invisible to it.

  • Nothing leaves your computer without an account.

On the free tier there is no server call at all. It counts, it interrupts, and it all stays local.

  • You can leave whenever you like.

It cannot stop you disabling or removing it, and does not pretend to. The dashboard records the gap honestly instead.

When it will not help.

Your phone is the problem.

This is desktop Chrome only. Fixing the laptop and moving to the sofa is a real outcome, and one this cannot prevent.

Social media is your job.

If you run ads or manage a community, it will fight you all day. It is built for people who want less of it.

You browse in incognito.

It does not run there, and it says so rather than quietly miscounting your day.

Two clicks, then nothing.

  • Add it from the Chrome Web Store.
  • Pin it to your toolbar so the badge stays visible.
  • It starts counting straight away. A short welcome page explains what will happen before anything does.
  • Nothing to configure, and nothing to sign up for.
  • The next time you hear from it is 5 minutes before your first break.
